Description
The Karri Forest Explorer Drive is a self-guided drive trail developed by the Department of Environment and Conservation with support from the Pemberton tourism industry. It winds through some of the south-west’s most magnificent karri forest and Pemberton's natural attractions. Explore it at your own pace—stop for a picnic at Big Brook Dam, climb 60 metres to the Gloucester Tree lookout, see Beedelup Falls from the suspension bridge, go bushwalking in old-growth forest, or fishing, or just sit and take in nature. You’ll find trail-side information to guide you through the forest, including a series of tourist radio stops (100 FM). You can stop for a wine tasting, coffee or a gourmet meal; visit a gallery or paddle your canoe in one of our waterways. Choose from the wide range of places to stay and give yourself longer to explore the 86-kilometre drive. The Karri Forest Explorer Drive starts just outside the historic timber town of Pemberton, but you can join it at several points along the way, depending on which way you’re travelling, or where you’re staying. National Park entry fees apply when entering National Parks, pay at a self-registration hut at park entrance or purchase your pass at the Pemberton Visitor Centre. One pass covers your vehicle for the region. Karri Forest Explorer Drive is suitable for 2WD vehicles, some sections are gravel roads. Great photography opportunities all year round, spectacular in karri forest wildflower season.

Directions
From the centre of Pemberton follow Ellis St to the Gloucester Tree, then return to the town centre and turn left on Golf Links Rd on the north side of town. Follow the Karri Forest Explorer Drive signs. If travelling from the west you can join the Drive loop at Beedelup Falls, from the south at Warren National Park or the Cascades, from the north turn onto Golf Links Rd.
