Description

Visit Lake Yeagarup on the unsealed Ritter Rd (suitable for 2WD cars), bring a picnic and view the Yeagarup Dunes in the distance from the boardwalk over Lake Yeagarup. Lake Yeagarup is a young tannin-stained freshwater lake, one of a series of lakes in D'Entrecasteaux NP. Walk the 1.2km to the dunes. Camp at the Leaning Marri campsite (camping fees apply, self registration station located at entrance). To continue driving to Yeagarup Dunes & Yeagarup Beach a 4WD vehicle and tyre compressor is required, deflate tyres for driving on soft sand from the lake. Yeagarup Dunes is a vast inland mobile sand dune system continually moving due to strong winds from the coast. Follow the designated trail across the dunes and continue along the road through the stabilised revegetated dunes to Yeagarup Beach. The edges of the track from the lake to the beach are a perfect place to spot wildlife and wildflowers and orchids in season. Yeagarup Beach is a wild, open sandy beach exposed to the Southern Ocean and the prevailing South Westerly winds, great for fishing, bring your surf rod! Explore the mouth of the Warren River, launch your canoe to paddle upstream along the river. National Park entry fees apply.
